Using a mix of qualitative data and user feedback, we identified a handful of experience issues with the rewards structure in Cuemath’s learning platform.

Key problems identified

  1. Users didn’t have a place to track all the achievements they earned.

  2. Students aren't delighted much when they earn these rewards.

  3. Limited numbers and types of rewards made the experience almost unexciting.

I was tasked with designing and directing the whole experience of the new reward system including the revealing experience for students, the dashboard to showcase the earned rewards for both teachers and students, the interfaces and the visual direction for the whole project.

Neeraj, Aman Awasthy, and Rohit Singh are responsible for creating the wonderful animations for the rewards. The screens below depict the various types of rewards that available for students.

Since the rewards revamping and badges introduction is a huge project in itself, we decided to break it into parts and release incrementally. The initial release is of the existing rewards.

The UI below shows the screen when there are no badges. This is going to be the v1 of this project. Badges are under development and it will be released subsequently.

The Wins Dashboard has been designed in a modular way so that certain rewards can be enabled and disabled based on the users eligibility. The UI below shows the state when badges are disabled.

Next we built the reveal experience. Reveals happen in a modal format where the reward opens on top of the existing screen.

To increase the delight, we have added animations and we have used an unconventional yet satisfying UI design to cheer up the kids when they receive the rewards. We added a spotlight in the background. The reward will reveal with an accompanying sound as well.

All of these features were designed for different screen sizes. Since our users have devices ranging from mobiles to tablets to desktops, it is necessary to keep the responsiveness.

I have provided the interactive prototype and responsive behaviours to the developers using Figma.

To date, the Cuemath growth team has shipped dozens of features, tested even more ideas using experimentation, and is continuing to work on improving our product for our 60k+ students and 10k+ teachers.
